"This comprehensive and excellent monograph is designed to provide specific professional information for TV-Cinema camera operators. From the origins of Steadicam to the specifics of its utility, from the physics of operation to related considerations of technique, from the mechanical components to the implications of their adjustment—including his recommended wardrobe, diet, and exercise regimen for the operator and his ultra-conservative concerns for long-term muscular and skeletal well-being—Bruno Calò surveys the broad current base-line of Steadicam equipment and operation and takes us forward to its future—which he (and I) consider to be bright indeed."
From Oscar award for the invention of Steadicam Garrett Brown's foreword.
Since it was born, Steadicam has always fascinated observers, users and spectators, for its magic expressivity but also for the attention that it attracted with his misterious appearance. In 1999, as Responsible of AITC Up-to dating department, I would give to Associates a testimony of my experiences, researches and feelings about Steadicam use. The absence of specific publishing and the 'mistic' meeting with Garrett Brown at the Master Steadicam in Venice 1997, made strong my decision. The book, that wasn't sold, obtained many approvals and 500 copies printing literaly disappeared. Two years ago I decided to upgrade my work and the result is on the left! Garrett Brown's foreword makes me proud and joiful and, I'm sure, will enrich readers furtherly.
